Beauty Things I Don't Do

Hello.

Even though I'm really interested in makeup, and love trying out new things, I'm still struggling on a few things, and there's some beauty trends that I refuse to try. After seeing this post on my friend's blog, I wanted to share with you 5 beauty things I don't do.

Contouring
To me, contouring is the hardest thing in the world. I've tried bronzers, contour kits and foundation contours, but I just can't seem to master it. Hopefully with a bit of practice I'll be able to look half decent when I do it!

Highlighter
I don't think I even own a highlighter, as I have absolutely no clue what to do with it, but if I manage to sort out my contour skills I'm sure some highlighter would go nicely with it.

Lipgloss
I don't even own any lipgloss, as they stress me out way too much. They get on everything, my hair gets stuck in it and I just don't like the look of them on my lips.

Hair Masks
I should probably get into hair masks, as my hair currently feels like straw, but I've never tried them before. Hopefully I'll find a good mask soon and try them out! Do you recommend any?

Eyeliner
Another thing that I don't own! I've never been able to master the art of winged eyeliner, and even if I did, I'm not sure the look would suit me.

Beauty Wishlist

Hello.

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the lack of blog posts, as I've had a bit of a rubbish week and hadn't pre-written any posts. But I'm back to blogging now, and today I wanted to share a few things that I have on my 'beauty wishlist'. I always keep a list of things I want to buy, as it stops me from making impulse purchases that I often later regret.

As I don't actually own the products, these photos aren't mine. I will add the url I got the photos from at the bottom of each one!

Zoella Beauty Fizz Bar

When the range first came out, I wasn't really attracted to this product. But after seeing reviews and seeing it actually being used in YouTubers vlogs, I really want to try it out. I think it's a really cool design as the packaging is gorgeous and it's shaped like a chocolate bar, and apparently it does great things to your skin too!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer

I've heard great things about this concealer, and as I'm getting a little tired of my Wake Me Up concealer, I really want to give this a go. I also really love the sponge applicator, and it's not something I've ever tried before.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Brushes

These are the most gorgeous brushes I've ever seen, and I'm just desperate to get my hands on a few. I haven't decided which ones I want yet, but I definitely know I'll just have to ignore the price and go for it.

School Organisation

Hello.

Since I'm in year 10 of high school, my first year of GCSEs, I've been keeping my schoolwork a lot more organised than I have in previous years. I wanted to share with you a few things I like to do to stay organised.

Book Storage
I find that keeping all my books in one place is really useful when you're quickly packing your bag, or you sit down to do some work. I got this basket for Christmas, but you can find similar things anywhere (I'd recommend Cath Kidston or TK Maxx). I keep the bigger books at the bottom and the smaller ones on top so I can always see every book I have in there, and I just keep some revision guides down the side of the shelf.

Stationary Box
I keep all my stationary in a box by my desk, so it's always available when I'm doing work. I got this box with my Victoria's Secret perfume set, but any old box will do. I just keep highlighters, coloured pencils, and other random items that I don't usually use in here. I tend to keep pens and pencils separate on my desk as I need these a lot more often and don't want to have to search in my stationary box for them.

School Folder
I have a giant folder for any loose worksheets. I've separated my folder into subjects, and for each subject I have a few different plastic wallets, one for each subject. I find this really useful because then I can easily find what I'm looking for, and if I'm doing some work on a specific thing I can just take out the whole plastic wallet instead of searching for individual sheets.

Contents Pages
One thing I really highly recommend is to make a contents page at the front of your book. I know it sounds a bit strange, but this was recommended to me by my maths teacher, and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner! It's so easy to find things when you're revising, and if you keep up to date with it then it takes no time at all to keep up.

I hope you've found some of these organisation tips useful! Please let me know in the comments if you have any tips!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara // Review

Hello.

I saw a lot of people obsessing over the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, and I thought I'd give it a try.

I really like this product. It stays on all day and it spreads all your lashes out evenly, which is something that a lot of mascaras don't do. I also really love the packaging.

Overall, I would completely recommend this product, and I'll continue to use it for a long time.

Favourite Clothes Shops

Hello.

Although my blog is mainly beauty, and I'd pick makeup over clothes any day, I'm trying to get into fashion a bit more, so I wanted to share with you my 5 favourite clothes shops.

Boohoo
I absolutely love Boohoo, and every time I go on there I find a few things I want. It's also really affordable, delivery is cheap, and it never takes too long to arrive.

New Look
If you're looking for Summer clothes, New Look is the place to go every year. For the past few years, the majority of my Summer clothes have come from here, and I don't think it's too expensive either.

Primark
You can never really go wrong with Primark. I usually find some really nice Summery clothes here, and it's all so cheap that you can get loads.

River Island
Although I rarely buy from River Island because it's a little bit out of my price range, I always find things I like, and hopefully in a few months I'll have a few River Island items.

American Apparel
I wanted to add a more high end brand into my favourites, and I really like American Apparel. I love the hoodies, disco pants and some of the T shirts that they do.

MAC Palette vs Naked 3 Palette

Hello.

Urban Decay's Naked Palettes are a must-have for any makeup obsessive, and so are MAC eyeshadows. As I'm lucky enough to have Naked 3 and my own MAC palette, I thought I'd put them up against each other and tell you which I prefer.

Naked 3
£38
As you can see, Naked 3 is very expensive. The majority of people prefer this palette, as the colours are all really neutral, and can be worn with almost any look.

MAC Palette
Actual palette - £16
Eyeshadows - £10 each
As you can see, to fill this up completely, it would cost be about £160, which is quite scary. I'm expecting to be adding to this palette for years to come though, so the cost becomes a lot less daunting when you think of it that way.

Colours
In terms of colours, I absolutely love the Naked 3 palette. However, as MAC sells well over 100 colours, there's bound to be something for everyone. Although I prefer the colours in my Naked palette at the moment, I can always add new colours to my MAC palette, but I'm stuck with the ones I've chosen in Naked 3.

Pigmentation
MAC wins this one, no question. The only reason I don't think the Naked Palettes are worth the money is because you need loads to get a really nice look. A few touches of the MAC eyeshadows and you're finished.

Price
I'll have to give this one to my Naked Palette, as getting 12 colours in the palette means you're spending about £3 on every eyeshadow, whilst MAC eyeshadows are £10. If you're on a cheaper budget, you might be better off with the Naked Palette.

Overall, I'd have to choose my MAC palette, but I still absolutely love my Naked Palette, and I can definitely see why people would prefer it.

Do you own either of these? Which do you prefer?

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer // Review

Hello.

I don't usually use primers, but when I found the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer for a good price, I thought I'd try it out.

I absolutely love this. I can really tell a difference in my makeup when I wear this. It stays on for longer, and doesn't shift around my face as much. It makes my skin really smooth to apply makeup on, and I love it.

Price: £7.99

Favourite Makeup Brands

Hello.

As you may have guessed, I'm a huge makeup lover. Here's my top 5 makeup brands.

MAC
I got really into MAC last year, and started to build up my collection. I'm absolutely obsessed with the lipsticks, and I also really like the eyeshadows.

Rimmel
Before MAC, Rimmel was my favourite brand, and it's still my go-to drugstore makeup brand. I love the Wake Me Up foundation and concealer, and the Stay Matte powder. I also think the Kate Moss lipsticks are great.

Maybelline
I've recently started getting into Maybelline. I really love their lipsticks, and I'm a huge fan of the lash sensational mascara.

Real Techniques
Even though this isn't really a makeup brand, I absolutely love Real Techniques brushes, and there's very few makeup brush brands that I'd try other than these brushes. They last for ages, feel soft on your face, and they look really pretty on top of my makeup storage.

Urban Decay
The only Urban Decay items I own are Naked 3 and Naked 2 Basics, but I love them. I'm really desperate to try out some of their mascaras and foundations! Is there any that you'd recommend?

Love Tanya // Review

Hello.

I'm a massive YouTube fan, so I was really excited to hear that Tanya Burr was releasing a book, and knew I had to get it as soon as I had enough money.

I absolutely love this book. I think it's a really cool idea, because it's an autobiography but it includes gorgeous photos of Tanya, as well as top 10 lists and space for you to write your own things. It also includes a baking section, with loads of different recipes, which I think is a really cool idea!

I love this book and I'd recommend it to everyone, even if you're not a huge Tanya fan.

Will you be getting Love Tanya?

Expert Face Brush vs Buffing Brush

Hello.

I've always used the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for my foundation, but recently I've switched to the Buffing Brush. Here's what I like about both of them.

Expert Face Brush

I quite like the texture of the expert face brush. Although it doesn't feel as soft and fluffy to use on your face, I feel like this applies a lot more foundation, which means thicker coverage, something I definitely need. My only problem is that you have to take really good care of it. If you don't wash it for a while, it feels like you're applying makeup with a rock, and this is the third version of this brush that I've purchased because the other two became unusable.

Buffing Brush

The buffing brush feels a lot lighter on my skin, and I feel that it blends better, so if you're using a foundation that needs a lot of blending, Nars Sheer Glow for example, I'd really recommend this brush. The only thing I prefer the expert face brush for is coverage, but I feel like if you had time, this brush could probably build more coverage.

Which one do you prefer?

Favourite Male YouTubers

Hello.

Last week, I counted down my Top 5 Female YouTubers (which you can read here), so I wanted to also tell you my Top 5 Male YouTubers, except I only have 4 this week. That's awkward.

Troye Sivan
Anyone that's been reading my blog for a long time, or following me on Twitter or Instagram, will know that I am in love with Troye. He was always going to be my favourite channel.

Thatcher Joe
Joe's videos are hilarious. I feel like you really get to know him as a person, and I'm always excited to see his newest video every Sunday.

Caspar Lee
Caspar's life seems so interesting, and I really love watching all his adventures.

Tyler Oakley
It's hard to watch Tyler's videos with a straight face because of the energy he brings to all of his videos. He's such a happy, funny person and his videos always cheer me up.

February Favourites // 2015

Hello.

I wanted to share with you a few things I've been loving throughout February!

MAC Party Line Lipstick
I bought this lipstick at the start of the month, and was a little bit terrified of it. It's a dark red colour, and I wasn't sure if it would suit me, but I wanted to give it a go. I've been wearing this practically all month and I love it so much!

Bourjois Eye Shadow Palette
In my opinion this eyeshadow palette is up there with my Naked palette and my MAC palette! It stays on for ages, the colours are really pigmented and I'd recommend it to absolutely everyone as a cheap alternative to the Naked palettes.

Cheryl Cole Eyelashes
I've been getting into wearing eyelashes more often this month, and I really like these ones. They are a little bit more on the pricey side, but they'll last for ages and I really like them.

Zoella Makeup Bag
As my last beauty favourite, I really wanted to mention this makeup bag. I love everything from Zoe's beauty line so I knew I'd like this, but for such a small bag, it fits loads of things in, and I've found it really useful this month.

Real Love by Tom Odell
I know this song was big around December time (thanks John Lewis advert that made me cry), but I've only recently fell in love with it. It's such a cute song and makes me feel all happy and warm and lovely and I love it.

Elastic Heart by Sia
I really like Sia, and I think she's so talented. I loved Chandelier, so I kind of knew I'd like this, but it's become one of my favourite songs this month!
