Revision Tips

(not my picture)

Hello.

So exam time is coming up, and if you're organised, you might have started revising. I have a GCSE in two months (cry), so I wanted to share with you some of my revision tips.

Find somewhere quiet
This one needs no explaining. It's much harder to concentrate when there's noise around you, so try and find somewhere quiet, and let your family know that you're revising so they know not to disturb you and to try and keep the noise down.

Have a clean desk
I personally can't work at a messy desk. I have no idea how anyone gets anything done if everything isn't all tidy. It means you have more room as well, so you can spread out more textbooks, papers etc, and won't have to be rooting around for them whilst trying to keep the answer in your head.

Dedicate a whole day to it
I find revision a lot more difficult if I'm counting the time as well. Instead of worrying about whether it's time to finish, make sure you don't have any more plans for the day, as you'll feel a lot more relaxed and get a lot more done.

Have a list of what you need to do
I can't just pick up a textbook and start learning. I like to make a list of all the topics I need to cover, and split them up into small sections, so I know what I'm working on, what I've already learned and what I still have to go.

Have 10 minute breaks
Studies have shown (how fancy does that sound) that your brain physically can't concentrate for hours at a time. Every half an hour or so, have a 10 minute break. Make some food, get a drink, watch TV and just chill out. This will give you more energy and mean that you take in more information.

I hope this post has helped any of you that have exams coming up.
Do you have any revision tips?

Focus On Yourself

A very self-reflective beach. (idk)

Hello.

I know I'm going a bit wild with the lifestyle posts recently, but this is something I really wanted to write about. One of my favourite quotes has always been 'focus on yourself', which is a really small sentence that can make a big difference in your life.

'Focus on yourself' can mean two things in my opinion. Firstly, it means that sometimes you have to put yourself and your happiness first. Obviously, it's really important to try and be a selfless person, and do what's best for other people, but I'm a firm believer that once in a while you really need to put yourself first. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

On the other hand, this quote could mean to focus on what your goals are and what you have achieved, instead of comparing yourself to other people. I've spent so long checking other peoples blog views, followers and watching them achieve things, that I've forgotten that I may have completely different goals. What other people are doing is absolutely nothing to do with you, and only focusing on your own goals and achievements makes you feel more positive in what you're doing, and also allows you to be happy for other people.

Just like Zoella's 'Just Say Yes', PointlessBlog's 'Do more of what makes you happy' and Troye Sivan's 'Art is Risk', I'd say if I were to represent myself as a quote, I would definitely be 'Focus on yourself'.

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick // Review

Hello.

Ages ago, my sister gave me one of the No 7 Stay Perfect lipsticks, and I chucked it in my lipstick draw and completely forgot to use it. But recently it's become one of my favourite lipsticks, and I just had to write about it.

I've got the colour 'Classic Rose' and it's absolutely gorgeous. After looking at all the other colours in the range, every colour is amazing. The consistency is really good, and it feels really thick on your lips, which I like.

But what really amazed me was how long it stayed on for. I went out for lunch, and after eating a whole meal, 4 hours later it didn't look any different.

I would honestly recommend these lipsticks to anyone who doesn't like topping up their lipstick all the time.

Will you be trying out this lipstick?

Feminism

What is feminism?

When I first joined Tumblr, I started to see posts about feminism. I'd always thought of feminists as scary old ladies with pitch forks who wanted to take over the world, but I soon realised that that couldn't be further from the truth. A feminist is someone who believes that men and women deserve equal rights. Everyone's a feminist. Or at least you should be.

Why is feminism important?

Throwback to when women weren't allowed to vote, work, and just got given a husband that they had to obey for the rest of their life. When you think about it like that, we've come a long way. But women are still far from equal. Some women get paid less than men for doing exactly the same job. Some women are refused jobs simply because they are women. Some women are taught from birth that anything they do that isn't 'ladylike' is bad, but men can do whatever they want because 'boys will be boys'. Feminism is one of the most talked about topics in the world right now, and it needs to stay that way until women are allowed to do exactly what they want.

Why am I a feminist?

Apart from the obvious reason that everyone should consider themselves a feminist, I've never really had a 'life changing' moment where I've become determined to join the fight for women's rights. However, all my life I've picked up on little things people say. "Don't sit like that, it's not ladylike. Don't wear that, boys won't like it. Don't buy that, it's from the mens section." Have you ever noticed how girls in schools aren't allowed to wear things that are too revealing because it might distract boys? Have you ever noticed how girls clothes are made to be more see-through than boys? It annoys me. And it's not fair. Feminism means equality, and everyone deserves equality.

Everyone should be a feminist.

Are you?
