My Top 5 Lipsticks // Updated

I'm a massive lipstick lover, so it's only natural that I have my favourites. Here's my top 5 favourite lipsticks.

My first favourite is a new addition to my collection. It's the Maybelline Colour Sensational Creamy Matte lipstick in '975 - Divine Wine'. I absolutely love this lipstick, even though I've only had it for a few weeks. It's probably the darkest red I own, and looks amazing for Winter.

My next favourite is my Topshop lipstick in 'Mink'. I wear this every single day for school and it's probably overtaken Velvet Teddy by MAC as my favourite nude lipstick. It's a brown-pink colour, and I'm obsessed with it.

The next lipstick I want to mention is a little bit pricey. It's my Too Faced Melted Ruby lipstick. I've had this for quite a few months, and it's such a gorgeous colour. It's a really bright pink-red colour, and it's one of the only colours I could probably pull off in Summer as well as Winter.

I couldn't write this post without mentioning MAC in some way. I'm in love with MAC's 'All Fired Up' lipstick. It's a pink-red kind of colour, and a little bit darker than Melted Ruby.

My final favourite is a NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in 'Amsterdam'. I've got my eye on about 5 other colours because I love these lipsticks. It's a really bright red lipstick, which makes a change from the rest of my reds as they're mostly dark reds. It's really pigmented and I love it.

Lipsticks For Beginners // Bright Colours

As the final post in my Lipsticks For Beginners mini-series, I wanted to share a few of my favourite bright colours.

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in 'Raspberry Blush'
This is a fairly new purchase, so I haven't had much chance to try it out, but it's an amazing bright pink colour. This would look amazing on any skin type, in my opinion.

Topshop Lipstick in 'Maracoon'
This is another bright pink, except this one is a little bit lighter. It's very matte as well, while the No7 lipstick is a little bit more glossy.

Loreal Colour Riche Matte Lipstick in '228'
This is a more orange colour, and looks amazing on fair skin. I don't think it's too matte, but it also isn't too glossy so it's good for anyone who isn't sure what kind of finish they like.

MAC 'Pink Pigeon'
This is a gorgeous bright pink colour. A little bit darker than the Topshop shade, but a little bit brighter than the No7 shade. This is really matte, and looks amazing in Summer.

MAC 'Flat Out Fabulous'
This is probably the darkest colour included in this post. It doesn't come off as purple as it looks, but it's a deep pink colour, and I love it. It's a good mix between dark and bright.

Lipsticks For Beginners // Reds & Dark Colours

Read 'Lipsticks For Beginners // Nudes & Pinks' here

I usually wear darker colours, as I think they suit me more, so I have a lot to get through in this post. Here's some I'd recommend to any lipstick newbie.

Rimmel Kate Moss '05' Lipstick
This is actually the only Kate Moss lipstick I have, and I really want to get a few more. It's a dark pink berry kind of colour, and it doesn't look too wild for anyone who's experimenting with dark colours.

Loreal Colour Riche Lipstick in '376'
This one's really similar to the Kate Moss lipstick, except it's a little bit darker. I don't wear this lipstick very often as I bought it at the start of Summer and if I chose to wear a darker colour in Summer it was usually a red, but I'm excited to start using this more in the Autumn and Winter.

MAC 'All Fired Up' Lipstick
This lipstick is quite a recent purchase, and I love it. It's quite similar to the two above, but it has a more matte finish which I love.

Collection Little Mix 'Leigh Anne' Lipstick
This was the first red I ever bought, and I'm not a massive fan. It comes off quite bright which I don't like, but if you prefer bright reds then it's really affordable.

Revlon Colourburst '240' Lipstick
This one is another bright red, and it comes off kind of orange. Again, it's not my style but it is a really nice lipstick.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in 'Amsterdam'
This is a fairly new lipstick, and I love it. Matte lipsticks are my favourite kind, and the colour range is so amazing. This isn't too bright but isn't too dark, so it's a good in between for anyone who isn't sure what kind of red suits them.

MAC 'Party Line' Lipstick
I really like this lipstick, and for a while this was my go-to red. It's quite a dark red, so it would look really nice in Autumn or Winter.

Too Faced 'Melted Ruby' Lipstick
This is probably in the running for one of my favourite lipsticks. It's a gorgeous bright pink / red colour and the application is so easy.

MAC 'Flat Out Fabulous' Lipstick
I'm slowly trying to get into purple lipstick (not bright purple, don't get scared), and this is such an amazing colour. It's a mixture of pink and purple, and it's a good in between for me while I get used to purple.

Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in 'Berry Much'
I can't decide if I like this lipstick because sometimes it looks gorgeous and sometimes it looks sparkly and a lot darker than I thought. It is a really nice colour though, and a really dark one for anyone who prefers dark colours.

Lipsticks for Beginners // Nudes & Pinks

I wanted to start a little 'series' type thing on my blog, and I thought lipsticks would be the best topic. I absolutely love lipstick, and have quite a few different colours, so I thought I'd go through some of my favourites for anyone who isn't really into lipsticks and is looking for some inspiration. So look out for the other 2 posts I'll be doing on 'lipsticks for beginners'.

Since I'm still in school but can't go a day without wearing lipstick, I've acquired lots of pink shades and nude shades. Here's some of my favourites.

MAC 'Velvet Teddy' Lipstick
This lipstick is a matte finish, and this is my go-to school lipstick. It's one of MAC's bestsellers and for good reason, it looks amazing.

MAC ' Please Me' Lipstick
This one's a light pink shade, and it looks amazing with quite neutral eyes. It doesn't suit me that much because lighter colours don't really suit me, but I still think it's a really gorgeous colour.

MAC 'Fanfare' Lipstick
Fanfare is really similar to Please Me, which is why it looks exactly the same on the photos, but it's a little bit darker. I find that this colour suits me better because it's a little bit darker, but it's still a really nice pink shade.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in '728 - Honey Beige'
This one is what my friends call my 'brown lipstick' but I really like it. It's definitely a lot browner than Velvet Teddy, but it looks really nice with dark eye makeup.

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in '25 - Classic Rose'
This is probably the brightest colour I've picked for this post, and it's also one of my favourite lipsticks. It's a lot more red without being an actual red lipstick, which is good for someone who wants to get into wearing red a bit more, but needs more of an in-between colour to start them off.

Topshop Lip Butter in 'Lolly'
I hardly ever wear this, and I don't think Topshop even make it anymore, but it's a pink tinted lip balm, which is good to apply if you don't have a mirror.

5 Beauty Products You Need in Your Life

Over the few years that I've loved makeup, I've built up quite a collection. There's a few things in my collection that I couldn't live without, and I thought I'd share them with you.

Vichy Dermablend Foundation
I've got a few other foundations that I really like, but nothing comes close to the Vichy Dermablend Foundation. The coverage is amazing without making it look like you have lots of makeup on, and it's definitely my favourite foundation.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
I've never owned a different powder before, because this one is just so good. It's really cheap (like £3?) and it works so well.

Max Factor CC Colour Corrector Stick
This is basically a green stick that you put on any red parts of your face before foundation, and it really helps to even out skin colour. I can really tell the difference when I'm not using this, and I absolutely love it.

Rihanna 'Nude' Perfume
This is hands down my favourite perfume, and I'd recommend it to everyone. I don't think it's too expensive, and it's a really fresh and sweet scent that I think most people would like.

MAC 'Soar' Lip Liner
This is probably one of my favourite lip colours, and so many people already have it. Lip liners tend to stay on longer, so I hardly have to top it up throughout the day and I love it so much.

My Travel Makeup Bag

In an effort to organise my makeup before I go on holiday, I wanted to write down what makeup I'd be taking, and why not share it on here?

Foundation is essential when going on holiday, and I've picked my trusty Vichy Dermablend. I absolutely love this foundation, and I know I can't go a week without it.

I'm also planning on taking this Rimmel BB Cream, as it's got SPF in it and is a lot lighter than Vichy to use in the daytime.

For concealer I'm going to take my Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer because it's the only one I really use.

I'm taking my Max Factor CC Colour Corrector stick because it helps to make your foundation look flawless and get rid of any red marks.

For blusher I'm taking my Topshop cream blush in the colour 'Head Over Heels' because it stays on a lot longer than powder blushes and I don't want to have to reapply my makeup at the beach.

I'm also taking my Rimmel Stay Matte powder to make sure I don't get shiny in the heat.

For mascara, I'm going to take this collection mascara because I think I might be allergic to Maybelline Lash Sensational, so I'm going to wear this for a week and see if it's me or the mascara.

For my eyebrows I'm going to take the colour 'Mystery' out of my MAC palette and pop it in a little plastic bag as I need to take it but I don't want to take my whole MAC palette.

I'm also going to take my Seventeen eyebrow palette because I like to use it alongside the MAC colour.

For eyeshadow, I wanted to take a big palette with lots of colours so I have a wide range to choose from, so I've picked my Urban Decay Naked Palette because it's got 12 colours in, and I love it.

For lipsticks, I obviously couldn't take them all, but I couldn't force myself to pick just one or two. So I've chosen 5.

The first one I'm taking is Velvet Teddy by MAC, because it's a gorgeous nude and will be good to use on the beach so I don't look like I'm wearing loads of makeup.

The second lipstick I'm taking is Please Me by MAC (can you see the MAC theme yet?). This is a lovely pink colour which will also look nice on the beach if I want to give Velvet Teddy a bit of a break.

The next lipstick I'm taking is Pink Pigeon by MAC, and I'll probably wear this in the evenings or if we're doing something in the day that isn't the beach or the pool.

I thought I'd throw in 2 red lipsticks, as they're both very different colours. The first one I'm taking is Party Line by MAC (I'm done with MAC lipsticks now, I promise). This is more of a dark red, which will look lovely in the evenings.

I'm also taking my Too Faced Melted lipstick in the colour Melted Ruby, because this is more of a bright red.

What makeup do you usually take on holiday?
